What should I expect from my first session?
At your first session we'll go through the medical history form that I'll have sent to you prior to your appointment. I'll also ask what you're hoping to get out of the session, whether you're hoping that Reflexology can help you with something specific, or whether you simply want to unwind and feel pampered.
Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?
Yes I can, as part of my Diploma in Reflexology we also undertake studies Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Reflexology can help ease aches and pains associated with chronic illnesses and diseases, including cancer, and to provide comfort, relaxation and improved wellbeing emotionally to people suffering with a terminal illness. It has proven to be particularly helpful in palliative care.
What kind of chair do you have?
My Reflexology chair is a zero gravity chair. This means that you are reclined at 127 degrees. Whilst reclining in this position your legs and knees are slightly above the level of your heart. This eases the heart rate and breathing becomes easier and deeper. This position evenly distributes weight along the length of the body so that your spine is fully supported, and reduces pressure from the effects of gravity as compared to traditional recliners. It is extremely comfortable and you may find yourself drifting off during your treatment.
Do I have to bring anything?
No, I supply everything, but you are more than welcome to bring your own supply of towels/oils if it makes you feel more comfortable, or you have an allergy.
Do you accept cards?
At the moment it is just cash I'm afraid. I hope to accept cards in the very near future! Alternatively a bank transfer is always welcome.
Are you a member of a professional body?
I am a student member of the Professional Reflexology Association, the Complementary Therapists Association and hold my insurance with Balens.
I have sensitive skin/an allergy
I have very sensitive skin myself, so all of my towels and blankets are washed at 60 degrees on a sensitive wash cycle using Waitrose Non-Bio liquid and Comfort Pure Fabric Softener.
Which products do you use?
I use a variety of mediums when I practice, depending on the client. Calendula powder, Songbird balms and oils are my staples.
